Durban Pride month is June where we all get together to celebrate being LGBTIQIA+ ! But there’s Covid…so we need to have smaller events at different venues so that we can keep the numbers down and to be able to social distance too. Same Love Toti in collaboration with Friends Family Restaurant and Pub, are having one of these events in Amanzimtoti.
At Friends Restaurant, for all of June there will be a different Pride pub lunch each day, then on Wednesdays there is DATE NIGHT, on Thursdays is KARAOKE, Friday is LIVE Entertainment and Saturdays is also live entertainment with GUEST performances.
The 26th June will be our PRIDE DAY celebrations from noon until curfew. 2pm-4pm is our ART EXPLOSION, a chance for all poets, authors and entertainers to be seen and heard by a supportive audience. After that is more entertainment, musicians, drag artists, fashion show, dress up to the theme of “Colour me Beautiful!” Prizes will be won all through the night, and there will be a prizegiving for the Pride-At-Home online competition too.
Our SPECIAL GUEST will be the United States Consul General, Ann Linnee, a supportive and valued ally in our fight for equality and freedom. With all the murders we have experienced this year, we will have a moments silence and a prayer from one of our inclusive ministers. More guests are to be confirmed, but our most beloved guests are our non-profit organisations that support LGBTI throughout the year, so take time to show your appreciation to them!
